Public BBQ

A big, spacious reserve at The Basin with several play areas covering toddlers through to ten-year-olds - swings, slides, climbing walls and sand play - plus a stage used for live performances, wide open grass and plenty of shade. There are a couple of barbies, undercover areas, water fountains and public toilets, and while the toilets are well maintained they are not always clean, so it pays to go before leaving home. The paths are dirt. Parking is good but a struggle at busy times. The real bonus sits across the road: cafes with good coffee, a milk bar and a fish and chip shop, and nothing beats eating those in the park. Watch for cyclists coming down the hills at speed.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Knox council.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

We do also list wood fired BBQs on this site, so check the above descriptions and photos to be prepared.

If you are convinced that the BBQ has issues, then contact Knox council and let them know it's faulty.

You should first check with Knox council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
